Science-Driven Music for Everyday Wellness

Synchrony Gamma (SynG) is a proprietary consumer-focused music and light based wellness experience designed to enhance mental engagement while supporting general well-being, relaxation, positive mood, and healthy daily routines. The system delivers an immersive audiovisual experience in the gamma band using sound and light through off-the-shelf consumer hardware.

SynG may help users relax, concentrate, or engage in calming and mentally engaging activities as part of their personal wellness practices.

SynG is intended for adults seeking to incorporate mentally engaging sensory experiences into their day-to-day lifestyle. It is designed for self-directed use in the home or other non-clinical environments, independently and without health-care professional involvement.

How SynG Works

Using off-the-shelf consumer augmented reality glasses, SynG provides proprietary stimulation in the gamma band through combining self-selected music with optical stimulation to create an immersive experience that engages specific brain regions. The user engages with the sensory experience for 30 minutes per day. Because the experience utilizes augmented reality glasses, the user can engage in the SynG experience while performing other tasks if so desired. The SynG experience is effective, non-invasive, and enjoyable.

Improve your health and wellbeing quickly, easily and conveniently using SynG’s proprietary audiovisual system.

THE HEALING POWER OF MUSIC

Music as the medium of healing

Music activates multiple brain regions at the same time, promoting large-scale neural network activity, which can strengthen connections between brain regions. The main brain regions are:

Auditory cortex:

Processes pitch, tone, and rhythm

Motor cortex & cerebellum:

Track rhythm and timing

Limbic system:

Processes emotion and reward

Prefrontal cortex:

Predicts patterns and structure

Hippocampus:

Links music to memories

Why music works

Rhythm entrains brain activity

When music has a steady beat neurons begin firing in time with the rhythm and brain oscillations synchronize to the tempo. This is called neural entrainment. Rhythmic light or sound can entrain brain waves in specific frequency bands, including the gamma band (~30–100 Hz).

Pattern recognition & prediction

Music is structured. The brain constantly tries to predict when the next beat will occur, how a melody will resolve, and whether harmony will change. This prediction–reward loop stimulates the brain's learning circuitry — reward signals reinforce engagement every time a prediction is met or gently broken.

Strong emotional activation

Music strongly activates the brain's reward system. Emotional engagement increases attention, neural plasticity, and memory formation. Emotion amplifies neural processing, making music particularly powerful.

THE HEALING POWER OF LIGHT

Why synchronized light matters

Using light alongside music engages multiple sensory pathways at the same time. While music delivers rhythm through the auditory system and creates an enjoyable, emotionally engaging experience, it can vary in timing and complexity. Precisely timed light pulses, on the other hand, provide a clean, consistent signal that the brain can easily synchronize with.

By combining both, the same rhythm is reinforced through the eyes and ears simultaneously, making it easier for the brain to coordinate its activity. This multisensory approach can lead to stronger, more consistent effects than music alone, helping support focus, clarity, and overall wellbeing.
